Connie, thanks for the socks!

Early this morning we arrived in Dehra Dun safe and sound. The train ride was good, not as fancy as we thought it would be, but clean, lockable and just will and i in a little room to ourselves. Upon arrival, a gentleman from the latikaroy foundation picked us up and drove us out of town into the suburbs of Dehradun. We arrived at 5am to a very modest house with yard located in a very quiet and lovely neighborhood. The area feels kind of small towny, and i'm already feeling calmer and safer than i've felt all week....although it's not been bad at all so far.
It's a bit more chilly here, as we are farther north and closer to the mountains. My mother-in-law's finely crafted snuggly socks came in handy the first night, as they kept our feet warm on the cement floors and unheated home. Will and I bundled up in a few layers of clothes and blankets and crashed to sleep at about 6am.
We haven't seen mountains yet, but know that they are near by. The air here is much cleaner and clearer, which is a plus.
After a few hours of rest Will and I kicked around our new pad a bit, got a quick tour of the neighborhood from a new friend, and are currently at the local internet cafe. We don't get internet at the house which is a bummer, but will get internet access daily at our jobs starting tomorrow.
Well, I'm off.
Lauren

PS. Took pictures of the house, and hope to post them tomorrow along with some shots of Delhi.

i am glad to hear the socks are helpful. Our quilting went well, there's still more to quilt. We had a grand time with the cousins, and many more people know about your Feb to June plans. Be well.

namaste! so great to be getting these updates. keep em coming. you guys are missed here, but i am thrilled that you are there, experiencing life in such a new/old/wonderful/strange place as you are. keep warm, and keep on the lookout for the peaks--they're pretty dramatic when they come through. much love, and many blessings, david

Hey Lauren and Will,

What can I say? Missing you. Lauren, I am truly loving your writing and looking forward to what's to come.

Love,

Hey!!! Sounds like things are going well, I'm sooo happy! I'll keep praying for everything to continue going well, to have a wonderful time, and to stay safe! I totally miss you both! (especially since there's a cheesy chick flick out and have no one to go with :) I'll check back soon. Love, Love, Love, Emily.

Hey! It's nice to hear updates from you, and it seems like you're enjoying yourself so far. I'm praying for you and I miss you!!

Update: It went from cooler to downright chilly last evening and today. We had a storm system come in and dump rain - lots of lightening and some high winds. Lows are in the 40s, but the key here is the uninsulated, unheated, drafty buildings. The electricity went out for much of the storm time as well. I'm shivering, but the sun is finally coming out.
