The Train is a Pain

Yesterday Will and I left Goa on what claimed to be the "Express Train" to Mumbai. It was supposed to take 6 hours. 3 meals and 14 hours later we arrived at a train station 2 hours outside of Mumbai. At that point it was 1am which made it hard to find a taxi. But the lovely local rickshaw boys, who were quite tipsy by that time, assured us they had friends who could get us to Mumbai. The rickshaw boys were quite drunk by 1am, but bought us a water bottle and soda to befriend us, so we ended up chatting with them a bit to kill some time. They actually did produce a taxi, and a legitimate one at that, by 2am and we were off to Mumbai.
Once we were there we found that our hotel actually cost twice as much as advertised in our little travel book and Will, WONDERFUL Will, had the taxi driver and his "buddy" drive us around to multiple hotels to check out prices and rooms. We finally settled for a hotel that was a bit out of our price range, but on the low end of things out of the 5 hotels that we saw, plus they agreed to let us stay past check out time to catch our plane at midnight tonight. Will and I finally got to sleep at 4:30am after a long day of train rides and hotel hunting. We are currently sitting in our little hotel room, with AC thank goodness!, and trying to catch up with folks back home.
This is our last day in India!
Can you believe it?
Tonight we head off to Denmark for our last 2 weeks and then we are home on June 29th! We'll be blogging as much as we can for the rest of our trip, as we enjoy spending time with our Danish friends.

Hello Darlings.

Sorry your last day here was so disappointing!

I loved your report, Lauren - did I already tell you that?

Thanks for doing it.

Safe travels. Stay in touch.

Love,

Jo
